Has it ever been this way before? Social Upheaval; Pandemic; Economic Uncertainty?
Yes, and Jesus addressed similar challenges in the world He witnessed with His own, earthly eyes. He also made some outrageous claims and commands to His disciples. Things that seemed completely unreasonable then, and still do today. He also told stories about unlikely heroes, and how their faith, compassion and generosity completely transformed their circumstances, not just for themselves, but for those around them.
Even as World begins to ‘open up’ after the trauma of the COVID 19 Pandemic, that doesn’t mean all our anxieties simply melt away. Anger and hateful rhetoric are still leading so many to disastrous ends. When the dangers of the world seem unrelenting, Jesus offers us a new model which completely flips the narrative: The Good Samaritan.
