The Triumph of God’s Passion

Play

Even as Jesus set his sights on the finish line, from our perspective, the road to Calvary was long and winding. It involved a frenzied parade through the raucous streets of Jerusalem. For His faithful disciples and enemies alike, it seemed like it would all come to a head when Jesus attempted to ride victoriously into Zion as a new Messiah, ready to take the reins and drive out the occupying Empire. Of course, that episode was only setting the stage for a much larger drama to unfold, one that shook the foundations of our moral universe and redefined our understanding of God Himself. It was a time of great foment, trouble, confusion and shattered expectations.

Today, Bram and Sandi take a new look at the events of Palm Sunday, and from the perspective of a modern world just as shaken as the First Century AD. How can we take courage and hope from the story in the midst of our struggle and fears? Should the age of COVID challenge what we thought we knew about this important day in our worship calendar? Give a listen and decide for yourself!
