Karen Zacharias never wanted to be an outsider. It just happened that way. Losing her father in Vietnam made her a ‘Gold Star Daughter’ and with it, the awkwardness of having a story others didn’t share. She found love and acceptance in a Christian fellowship and began to blossom, even becoming a fixture in Christian publishing.

Then the love she knew seemed to evaporate around her and she was faced with a real crisis of faith. What would she do? Where would she turn? Who would she trust? Karen’s story is multi-layered, troubling, and in the end redemptive. Much like the fiction she now writes as an established author of books rooted in her native South.
