Today: When you’re the new mayor of a major city you probably have big plans to make life better for all your people. But what if your first week in office erupts into a full-blown crisis? Well, that’s what Lisa Brown faced in early 2024 as she began her service in Spokane, WA. With a deadly cold front rapidly approaching, there was nowhere near enough beds and safe places to provide shelter for the thousands of homeless in Spokane County. So, Lisa turned to the Church for help. Hundreds of calls went out. The result? Only four churches responded positively. Why such reticence to help? Why so few churches responding? What’s really going on here?

Today Sandi and Bram take a closer look at the issue, and some of the unspoken reasons why well-meaning Christians would step away from an opportunity to save lives in their own community. The answers and the discussion couldn’t be more timely…
