SIERRA LEON:
This small West African nation, founded by the British in 1797 as a home for freed slaves, has suffered as much as any nation on earth. Subjected to anarchy and the barbaric maiming of the innocent during a 20-year civil war, Sierra Leone needs spiritual and material help. Compassion Radio maintains a relationship with a local pastor who has a dynamic ministry to children who have been victimized in unspeakable ways. With little training, and no local resources, this precious man of God endeavors to do things our large churches would consider a challenge. Compassion Radio partners have supplied money for education for children in his church and provided funds for sewing machines for widows to start businesses.
